Kinvara 2 Test report

Test Subject: Saucony K2

Price: RM260, special promo by Choi CC
Test Distance: 8.2KM
Time: 43:45
Pace: 5:20/km
Fuel: Sadness and Disappointment
Test Weather: Cinya HOT
Test Route: Ara Damansara Terrain Road

It feels almost the same as the K1, except that I feel higher, i think it is normal, after 350KM, my K1 would have been flatter now. The look for K2 doesn't differ much from the K1 except the side lining looks firmer and better quality, the top part feels slightly harder, for runner like me who prefer less material covering the top, it is obvious, but during run, I don't feel it.

The shoes lace are shorter, eventhough I tie the shoes slightly lose to make room to adapt to it in 1st run, that is good, I don't have to find way to insert the extra lengthy shoes lace like the K1.

The run feels almost the same like the K1, I managed to clock race pace at 1st 5KM (25:50) before slow down by the evening direct hot sun. 1st 3KM the steps are strong and fast under hot sun, it allows me to realise my K1 started to harden on its sole, this K2 feels nicely cushioned with new sole.

Without testing it for longer distance, I can almost confirm that it will feel the same for 21KM.

The K2 is a very good replacement for K1 if u have no issue with K1 and prefer a continuation with K series. Personally I would like to try out a lower shoes like A5 or even Hattori zero drop for short distance run, probably will get it in the 2nd half of the year.

For those who would like a change from well cushioned shoes into lighter shoes, K2 is a nice choice to go for, u might feel BARE when u 1st run with it, after few runs u will find it fitting nicely to ur feet.

Next run with my K2 will be the 2XU run in Singapore which I get to test it real on race, hope it will bring me a PB for 15KM. Target? 1:25 hrs.

Brooks Half Marathon 2012 - 2:01:13

A somewhat over-distanced race at 21.9KM with my Nike+ GPS, I am still not quite a sub 2 HM runner, lol!

Good news is, this is the largest race gathering for LYN runners, it was a right choice for me to decide to open up facebook group for this LYN runners and since then we have very steady growth in members as well as members show up at race gathering. Having had the 1st running vest done and a banner, we are gaining popularity among runners group, haha! :D
